UPDATE: Missing Foothill Ranch Girl Found

Cearra Moawad went missing after classes ended Friday at Rancho Santa Margarita Middle School.

Update: Police found Cearra Monday morning and she has been returned safely home.

Here is a statement from Lt. Brian Schmutz, chief of police services in Rancho Santa Margarita: “The Sheriff’s Department was notified at about 6:30 this morning and immediately responded; Cearra was found in RSM in an apartment complex on Aliento. She was reunited with her family at about 7:20. She was in good health, with no injuries or signs of abuse. Based on her statements, she left of her own free will and was never at risk. Indications at this point are that she had been staying in the area.”

A search is underway for a 14-year-old girl from Foothill Ranch who has been missing since Friday afternoon.

Area residents leading the search said Cearra Moawad attended classes Friday at  but hasn't been home since school let out.

Searchers were posting and handing out fliers this weekend to help to locate the young girl, according to Frances Renteria, the mother of a close friend of Cearra's.

According to tips sent in after information about the search was posted to Facebook, the teen may have been at a Rancho Santa Margarita apartment complex Friday and by the RSM lake at some point Saturday, Renteria said.

Cearra is 5-foot-4, 115 pounds, with blue eyes and straight, shoulder-length blonde hair. She was last seen wearing dark jeans, a turquoise tank top and a black or gray sweater.

A Facebook group, Find Cearra Moawad, has also been set up to organize the search.
