VIDEO: Violin Interlude

El Toro High violinists show off before Prelude in the Park.

I met two outstanding violinists at Prelude in the Park on Sunday and want to share a quick snippet of their musical abilities with you all.

Both are seniors in the El Toro High School string orchestra.

You'll first see Joseph Ceman, 18, warming up—and no, he's not reading from sheet music. The subsequent clip is Karen Lee, also 18, whose fingers fly through a Celtic tune.

Prelude in the Park began four years ago, when Ceman and Lee were El Toro High freshman.

That makes them veterans of the annual community concert.

For Ceman, the event is a chance to simply "relax and enjoy the music."

"We just play for the crowd," he said Sunday.

It's also a rare chance for the entire El Toro High music department—from the jazz band to the percussion ensemble— to spend time together, Lee said.
