The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest exceeded it's goal of raising enough money to buy 201 turkeys for clients of South County Outreach. Owners Christine Anzell and Jack Levenson set their goal at one over last year's total of 200. They completed the drive Saturday having raised $2070, enough to buy at least 207 birds.
Their annual "Batteries for Birds" effort donates all revenues from the sale of watch batteries from mid-November through mid-December to the campaign. In addition to this program, The Jewelry Box is in its fourth year of offering customers a 10% discount on all jewelry and watch repairs in exchange for non-perishable food donations to Outreach. This year, they will generate about 3,000 pounds of food through that drive.
They also support Breast Cancer Solutions, Toys for Tots and extracurricular activities at El Toro High School. The business is in its twelfth year at Lake Forest Drive and Trabuco Road in the Heritage Hill Plaza.
