Eagle Community Credit Union Supports the NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Eagle Community Credit Union supported the 22nd annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive again on Saturday, May 10th. This was the sixth year that Eagle Community CU sponsored and provided the blue food bags for the mail carriers to distribute in the local Santa Ana Postal District that serves most of Orange County, CA.

The donated bags help promote the food drive and increase donations for the nation’s largest one-day food drive. In 2013, more than 1.4 million pounds of food were collected in Orange County, making it the second largest collection on record.

Paula Miller, the NALC Region One Food Drive Coordinator, says, “We literally could not do what we do for the food drive without the support and help from organizations like Eagle Community Credit Union. Its generous donation of bags helps bring in more food and ultimately puts more food on the table for people in need.”

Eagle Community Credit Union was also recognized at the food drive kickoff on Thursday, May 1 by Region One of the National Association of Letter Carriers with a nice plaque.

Eagle Community Credit Union backing for the drive doesn’t end with the bags. More than half of the credit union’s staff also volunteered at five local post offices to unload and sort the incoming donations for the local Orange County Food Banks.

The Largest One-Day Food Drive
“Stamp Out Hunger,” the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive, is the largest one-day food drive in the nation and is held on the second Saturday of May.  In the 21 years since the drive began, Letter Carriers have collected more than 1 billion pounds of food nationwide.
