Support our Troops

“Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise” is a San Clemente based group that seeks to support our military groups. Our Lake Forest representative is Marypat Birrell who lives in Foothill Ranch. Their latest effort is to collect food, drink and more for our Military Troops serving in Afghanistan, and they just arranged with the Ralph’s in Foothill Ranch to have a one day FOOD DRIVE! The date is next Sunday, March 16th from 9:00am-5:00pm. The items collected will be sent off as an “EASTER CARE PACKAGE" to the amazing men & women serving our Country far from home.

Here is the list of specific items requested:

  • Starbucks Via coffees,

  • Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Peanut bars or equivalent,

  • Quaker Oatmeal breakfast bars,

  • Cup noodles or EasyMac mac & cheese singles,

  • Cheez-Its or Cracker Jacks snack packs,

  • trail mix single paks,

  • Star-Kist Tuna & cracker snack packs,

  • Beef Jerkey/ Slim Jim individual packs,

  • Sunflower seeds individual packs,

  • corn nuts individual packs,

  • assorted bag of nuts individual packs,

  • cliff bars/ Quaker chewy granola bars,

  • Gatorade propel powder packs for water bottles,

  • chewing gum,

  • snack size peanut butter (or cheese) crackers,

  • cookies-single packs,

  • baby wipes (pocket or purse size-these are used as wash clothes in the desert!),

  • heavy cotton socks,

  • snack size bags of raisins or dried fruits.

  • In these Care Packages, they will include letters written by you thanking “Our Hero” - Mary suggests you ask your Family & friends to write a note of appreciation - they are priceless to read - a child’s heart is so kind! You can drop these off at the FOOD DRIVE.
