Angel Stadium Food Drive Aids Second Harvest

On Saturday and Sunday, fans can trade food and money for ballfield and clubhouse access.

Angel Stadium continues its food drive this weekend, giving fans a chance to hit, pitch and catch balls and visit the Angels clubhouse in exchange for donations of food or money for the poor.

For every three cans of food or $2 donated, people will get to stand at home plate and swing at balls thrown by a pitching machine. There is a 20-pitch maximum per person.

A donation of two canned food items or $1 will allow fans to throw pitches in the bullpen.

Tours of the Angels clubhouse will be provided for a $10 donation.

All proceeds collected during the 12th annual Thanksgiving Holiday Canned Food Drive conducted by the groundskeepers for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in its fight against hunger during the holiday season.

The drive will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting. Participants can enter the stadium through Gate No. 1 and proceed to the field level.

People who can't attend but want to make a monetary donation may send checks to Second Harvest Food Bank, 8014 Marine Way, Irvine, Calif. 92618, or visit its website.
