Chili's Raising Funds Today for Family of Man Killed in Portola Parkway Crash

Dine at the restaurant's Foothill Ranch location, and 15 percent of the bill will go to the family of Gregg Wiles.

Diners who say they're at Chili's in Foothill Ranch today to support the family of Gregg Wiles——will see part of their bill donated to the family.

Claudia Pangan, a manager at the Foothill Ranch Chili's, organized the  Give Back night because she lives down the street from the Wiles' Foothill Ranch home.

"I've been at Chili's for 12 years, and I know that Chili's can help," Pangan said. "In Foothill, we're all so close here."

Pangan herself has been the recipient of Chili's charity. When her daughter was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease seven months ago, a similar Give Back night saw the restaurant donate 15 percent of $15,000 in sales to help Pangan, she said.

Wiles, 51, was killed when his car was struck by another in the intersection of Portola Parkway and Towne Centre Drive. A computer programmer for the city of Santa Ana, he was also known as a talented musician and the father of four children.

“He really was a great family man,” his wife, , before a . “His family was everything. All the comments from everybody who worked with him—‘Every day he went in and had a story about the family, and he was really proud of his kids.’ Everything he did, he did for us.”

The Chili's at 1411 W. Katella Ave. in Orange is participating as well today. Pangan said that was because it's close to Santa Ana, where Wiles worked.

The "Give Back" program applies to all purchases from the two restaurants today, as long as the party buying says they're there to participate.
