Heavy Rain, Mountain Flood Warnings for This Weekend

Five bits of knowledge for today.

Just because it's the end of the week doesn't mean you shouldn't be informed. Here, try these five news briefs:

  1. The weekend will bring a lot of rain, says the National Weather Service. Today, there's a 50 percent chance of it, but tonight, the odds are 100 percent that there'll be heavy rain. A storm watch issued by the weather service predicts 1 to 2 inches of rain, and there's a chance of flash flooding in the Santa Ana Mountains, the range that includes Saddleback Ridge.
  2. Larry Gilbert at Orange Juice Blog says Lake Forest's is unjust; if a council member wants an issue brought to a vote, Gilbert says, it should be brought to a vote.
  3. A pretrial hearing for Derrick Ronald Frisco, charged with cultivating marijuana in his upscale Lake Forest home, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. today, City News Service reports.
  4. Matt Coker of OC Weekly, the paper I used to work for, comes up with "6 Questions Pastor Rick Warren Should ." Be warned: He's kind to neither Warren nor Blair.
