Some 167 customers of Southern California Edison faced a day without power Monday after an outage beginning at 9:12 a.m.

The customers in an area bounded by Fernleaf, Rimhurst, Le Parc and El Toro Cemetery were not expected to get power back until 4:30 p.m.

Utility spokesman Robert Villegas said the outage was due to an equipment problem.

The equipment failure took place in underground vaults on Rimhurst.

There has been continuing utility work in the area over the past six months. Earlier this year an explosion in a utility vault in this area injured two workers.
