Pets of the Week: Cruz the Beagle and Buster the Tabby

These guys need homes.

Looking for a pal to cruise around with? Cruz could be your man, er, Beagle. He’s a happy boy who loves to go for walks, and like every Beagle, he is very sweet and loves treats.

Beagles are favorites among dog lovers. Their compact size and soft brown eyes win hearts, and their sense of humor and silly antics always bring a smile or laugh. The short, soft coat is easy to groom. Beagles are pack dogs that love being with their people, but they aren’t always obedient. They can be a little stubborn, but food rewards are a good way to get their attention and persuade them to do things your way. The most important thing to know about a Beagle is that his nose is his brain. When the Beagle finds an interesting scent, all he wants to do is follow it. A Beagle needs a securely fenced yard so he doesn’t escape in search of good smells, and he should always be walked on leash. He’s also prone to putting on the pounds, so measure his food and limit his access to treats.

Cruz is 6 years old and is already neutered. If you’d like to meet him and see if he’s right for you, go to Orange County Animal Care, 561 The City Drive South, in Orange. His ID number is A1079437.
