Season's First Flu Fatality Hits Orange County

A 51-year-old man became Orange County's first fatal victim of this year's flu season.

A 51-year-old Fountain Valley man died from influenza-B-related disease, making him the first person in Orange County to die from flu-related causes this season, the county Health Care Agency announced today.

The man, whose name was not released, died last week, according to the county.

Health officials said the man's death should serve as a reminder for people to get vaccinated, noting the flu season has not yet peaked in the area.

The highest priority groups that should be vaccinated are children under 5, especially those under 2; pregnant women; people aged 65 or older; people who are morbidly obese; children and adolescents receiving long-term aspirin therapy; people with chronic diseases such as heart or lung disease, diabetes or asthma; people with weakened immune systems; and health care workers.

Information on obtaining a flu shot is available online at http://findaflushot.com. The county also offers shots to eligible people through a vaccination program, with information available by calling (800) 564-8448 or online at www.ochealthinfo.com.

Do you get the flu shot every year? Why or why not?

"Nor did I say Austim is CAUSED by heavy metals. I was very clear it can CONTRIBUTE to symptoms" Actually you were very clear that it *does* contribute. "Vaccines do not CAUSE Autism -- they make the ALREADY Autistic child LESS FUNCTIONAL, because of heavy metal build up" is what you said. What you do not provide is the scientific evidence behind your claim. "Using what I've uncovered (this & much more), I have reversed the major effects of Autism." Business must be booming, congratulations!

If we controlled our borders our children in the schools wouldn't need to get a smorgasboard of vaccine injections by the time they reached 8 years of age. We are seeing the resurgence of eradicated diseases that we haven't seen in this country for 50 years. Ask yourself "why?". :)

Because parents are choosing not to vaccinate their children, for whatever reason, "we are seeing the resurgence or eradicated diseases that we haven't seen in the this country for 50 years." It has nothing to do with our borders. If children are vaccinated they won't get these diseases.

"Because parents are choosing not to vaccinate their children..." "It has nothing to do with our borders. If children are vaccinated they won't get these diseases." I laugh at your moniker, fact checker. Because you don't have a clue about what you say and your 'facts' are far fetched. lol. The CDC itself has said that medically unscreened illegal immigrants who enter the country without authorization are bringing these ungodly diseases that we eradicated 50 years ago in America back to our country. If you were truly a 'fact checker' you would know this. And parents have NO CHOICE but to vaccinate their kids if they enter the school system. It is a REQUIREMENT under the school codes. So, again, you don't know what the heck you're talking about. You need a crash course in 'fact checking' before you comment on these boards. lol.

So, do you go to your plumber to see if you should get required repairs for your car when you advised by the manufacturer of a recall?
