The Price Was Right for South Orange County Man

Johnny Findlay won an outdoor firepit and a hot tub ... which won't exactly fit at his new apartment.

The price was right for South Orange County resident Johnny Findlay, who appeared on the game show of the same name Monday.

He walked away with a hot tub … which won’t exactly fit in his new Lake Forest apartment.

Findlay, 53, a Mission Viejo resident for 30 years before his recent move, made his third trip to the show in the past seven years.

But as they say, the third time is the charm.

His son, Joseph Findlay, 19, of Mission Viejo urged his dad in February to make a third trip north to Television City in Los Angeles. Joseph had just attended a taping of “Let’s Make a Deal” – and got on the show, to air later this month.

“It runs in the family,” Findlay said.

To get out of contestant row, Findlay had to estimate the price – without going over – of an outdoor firepit.

He then went on to play “Freeze Frame,” which required him to pull  the trigger when the right price made its way clockwork-style to the top of a fairly low-tech contraption.

Findlay did it, but don’t ask him how much the right price was. He can’t remember!

He hopes to sell the tub, which is expected to arrive sometime between now and July, Findlay said.

“I wish I could get it now so I could pay off my taxes,” he said.
