National studies show three out of four kids are not as secure in vehicles as they should be because their car seats are not being used correctly.
As part of a nationwide push for inspections, dubbed National Car Check Saturday, certified child passenger safety technicians will inspect children's car seats free of charge this weekend.
Families are invited to bring car seats in the vehicle they use to transport their children for an inspection on Saturday.
Technicians will check seats for age and size appropriateness, recalls and damage, and demonstrate how to properly install and use the seat.
The car check site nearest Lake Forest is the Laguna Hills Civic Center, 24035 El Toro Rd. in Laguna Hills.
Inspections will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday by appointment only.
