Hobby Lobby Is Open, Occupies Old Mervyn's Store

Stretch of Portola Parkway might as well be known as Craft Row with Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's and Michaels in the same area.

Portola Parkway may have a new identity: Craft Row.

After Hobby Lobby opened its doors a week ago, it was sandwiched between JoAnn’s and Michaels at 26732 Portola Parkway.

The Hobby Lobby is in the old Mervyn's Department Store, which has been vacant since the company liquidated its assets in 2008. The new store seems like a Party City, Michaels and a Home Goods store rolled into one.

All Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday but are opened Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The company is headquartered in Oklahoma City, where it started as an extension of Greco Products, a miniature picture frame company founded in a garage by their current, CEO, David Green in 1970.

There are more than 60,000 products in 13 departments. Hobby Lobby is loaded with crafts, home goods, party supplies, custom frames, fabric by the yard, yarn and more. If you are in the holiday mood, they are ready for you.
