Hooters, Olamendi's Close in Lake Forest

Only two Hooters restaurants remain open in Orange County, while Olamendi's appears to be focusing its business on the coastal cities.

Gentlemen in Lake Forest may have to sit down for this disturbing news: the at 24356 Swartz Drive, near the northbound exit of El Toro Road and the 5 freeway, has closed.

The last day of business was April 1, according to a nearby business owner. Within a couple day,s the entire restaurant had been cleaned out, and there were no signs on the restaurant. Even the marquee vanished.

Hooters media representatives have not returned inquiries about the restaurant’s closure. According to the Orange County Register, they have referred customers to the only two remaining Hooters locations in Orange County—Anaheim and Costa Mesa.

Also recently shuttered in that same center was Olamendi’s Mexican Restaurant. It’s the second restaurant closure for the popular Orange County-based chain of authentic Mexican food cruisine in the past year; Foothill Ranch was the other.

Olamendi’s has locations in Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach, and recently opened two new locations in Dana Point: one on Pacific Coast Highway at Doheny Beach and the other at the Monarch Beach Plaza.

That shopping center is terrible. Very tough to get in and out. They should just gut the entire place or at least create a path from Rockfield.

I'm sort of surprised they have not improved the entry/exit from the place with all the work that was done on it. It's not so bad if you are making a right turn onto El Toro or Rockfield (if you cut through the back) but it's a hassle if you need to go the other way.

Yea that location really sucks period. The only successful locations there are big 5 and LA Boxing. They need to improve the location

The location is terrible, but these restaurants were cruising on an undeserved reputation for some sort of quality. Both were substandard, and a lot of much better competition a stones throw away. Consumers know when they're being conned.

Well, I'll miss Hooters. My wife and I use to go there occasionally for lunch. Very friendly place. I took my 14 yr. old son out to dinner there for his 14th birthday. The girls were so very nice to him. He felt so special [and embarrassed to the point that he'll never forget that birthday. He's still telling all his friends about it and showing the video of the girls singing to him and dancing the Hooters Hokey Pokey for him. If any of the girls are reading this I just want to say thank yo so much for making his day very special. You're all the best! [XiaominJerry@Gmail.Com]

The City would love to fix it, but we have no funds now thanks to the state. And it also takes cooperation from the land owners, which if they don't have $, means they won't be interested...

Olamendi's in Monarch Beach is CLOSED. Went there today and it is gone. A sign is already up for a replacement restaurant (Mexican).

I believe it is time we had representation that understands what it means to serve. Because, afterRead More all, isn't a House Member's job to serve the people of his/her district? And who understands service better than a former Marine Corps Colonel? I briefly met Colonel Raths yesterday and it is my belief that he is doing this for all the right reasons and will provide what has been missing in Congress for far too long---INTEGRITY, HONESTY, PATRIOTISM, SELFLESSNESS & SERVICE. And if I heard correctly, yesterday, he has already hired the best possible company, a company with an extremely innovative and intelligent leader, to run his campaign. This company will serve him well and when the facts come about about Greg Raths, the people of the 45th District will have the easiest choice at the polls in quite some time. This is the man who will do the right thing for his district 10 times out of 10. Go Greg! When you find out the amazingly wonderful things he has done for his country, there really is no choice. Colonel Greg Raths USMC Retired for Congress, 2014.
