Jewelry Box Evening Fundraiser to Support Breast Cancer Nonprofit

At its third annual fundraiser for Breast Cancer Solutions, the Lake Forest store hopes to top the amount of money donated to the organization in previous years.

A Lake Forest jewelry store will put on its third annual in-store fundraiser for local nonprofit Breast Cancer Solutions from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Jewelry Box, at 21771 Lake Forest Dr., opened in 2001; its owners, Jack Levenson and Christine Anzell, support a number of local charities.

The Thursday event will feature food and wine, a silent auction with more than three dozen watches and jewelry items, a 10 percent discount for shoppers and a 10 percent donation of non-clearance proceeds to Breast Cancer Solutions.

"Holding this event for Breast Cancer Solutions is a way that we can truly affect someone's life that lives in our community. When searching for a breast cancer organization to support, we chose Breast Cancer Solutions because they are a local provider helping people in our community get access to treatment for breast cancer," Anzell said. "We started with nothing and now we feel like locals helping locals."

The Jewelry Box is also selling watches with the pink ribbon logo on the dial for $14.95 and donating the purchase price to BCS. The watches, which sold out last year, will be sold throughout October. In addition, the store will donate 10 percent of the purchase price for any gold, silver, platinum, sterling flatware/hollowware, diamonds, coins or watches sold to the store by attendees during the event.

Anzell and Levenson are hoping to top the $5,000 raised for BCS at the store's 2011 fundraiser.
