Meet Lake Forest Travel Writer Saturday at Peet's

Sonia Marsh will sign her travel memoir this weekend at a Lake Forest coffee shop.

Lake Forest author Sonia Marsh, who recently published the travel memoir Freeways to Flip-Flops: A Family's Year of Gutsy Living on a Tropical Island, will meet readers Saturday at on El Toro Road.

From 10 a.m. to noon., Marsh will sign her book and chat with attendees about the adventure that inspired it: her family's decision to move from Orange County to Belize for a year.

"Peet's coffee happens to be my favorite place for coffee, and the friendly staff at Peet’s on El Toro Road in the Orchard shopping area have been supporting me throughout the writing process," she said. "Every time I walk into the store, the staff smile and ask, 'How's your book coming along?''

A staff suggestion to hold a book signing at the store prompted her to set up the event, she said. "I was honored, and said, 'I'd love to.'"

A poster and a copy of Freeways to Flip-Flops has been at the coffee shop for customers to browse while waiting for their coffee or tea for the past two weeks, Marsh said.

Her goals for sharing her story are to inspire and motivate people to follow their passion, encourage others to share their own "gutsy" story through writing, and show that "there are always options in life we may not have thought about."

At the event, Marsh will raffle off Regency movie tickets and a bottle of champagne.

Attendees can get the book at a discount. Regularly $14.95, on Saturday it will be $12; $20 for two; $27 for three.

I believe it is time we had representation that understands what it means to serve. Because, afterRead More all, isn't a House Member's job to serve the people of his/her district? And who understands service better than a former Marine Corps Colonel? I briefly met Colonel Raths yesterday and it is my belief that he is doing this for all the right reasons and will provide what has been missing in Congress for far too long---INTEGRITY, HONESTY, PATRIOTISM, SELFLESSNESS & SERVICE. And if I heard correctly, yesterday, he has already hired the best possible company, a company with an extremely innovative and intelligent leader, to run his campaign. This company will serve him well and when the facts come about about Greg Raths, the people of the 45th District will have the easiest choice at the polls in quite some time. This is the man who will do the right thing for his district 10 times out of 10. Go Greg! When you find out the amazingly wonderful things he has done for his country, there really is no choice. Colonel Greg Raths USMC Retired for Congress, 2014.
