You have got to go here...Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary.

Is life getting a little too hectic?  Need a breath of fresh air?  Yearning to connect with nature?  If so, then I have the place for you.

Located in Modjeska Canyon, (just a stones throw from Lake Forest) the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary is the perfect place to become one with nature, have a romantic date or just spend the day discovering something new with your family.

Owned by California State University, Fullerton (GO TITANS) and operated by the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the sanctuary has something for everyone. For a suggested donation of $2.00 dollars per person you can roam the paths of the grounds.  As you wind through the beautiful landscape, keep an eye out for turtles, birds (don't forget to visit the famous bird porch for optimal viewing), squirrels, and native plants - just to name a few.  There are plenty of places to have a seat and enjoy the surroundings or spend a while reading a good book in peace.

Want to learn about what you just saw?  Head over to the Natural Science Center to gain some knowledge about the local environment that we are living in, and if you are lucky you may even get to hold Bob the snake.

Ready for some more adventure?  Well, I hope you wore your hiking shoes!  Directly behind the Natural Science Center is the Chaparral Trail, which allows visitors to learn about the local habitat.  At the top there is a nice shady structure that offers stunning vistas and provides a perfect picnic spot.  OH and at it is also a great place to watch BATS - more on that later.  This trail is marked as moderate, but the short hike is great for people of all ages.  If you want to explore more, there are several advanced trails in the vicinity that lead you into the Cleveland National Forest.

Some of the reasons why the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary is a must visit: great value, very interactive, and it is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  Whether you make a whole day of it or just spend a few hours unplugging - getting over to enjoy the nature at the sanctuary should be a priority!
