Thick Fog Gives Way to Dry, Windy Weather

A red flag warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Wind gusts will blow up to 50 mph.

The dense fog that blanketed the Orange County coast Wednesday morning will clear out, giving way to dry, gusty winds and hot temperatures.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning that's in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday, advising residents of gusts as strong as 50 mph.

The winds will be the strongest in the morning, and will slowly decrease throughout the afternoon, forecasters said.

In Lake Forest, the high will be 89 degrees.

Temperatures will drop by more than 15 degrees Thursday, with a forecasted high near 73 degrees. It will be even chillier Friday, when there's a 50 percent chance of showers and the night's low will bottom out around 45 degrees.

"On Wednesday night and Thursday we transition into a distinctly colder, wetter, winter-like weather pattern," Weather Service forecasters said.
