The city's annual Halloween event, tailored to the teen crowd, is Friday at Heritage Hill Historical Park.

Lake Forest's annual scarefest is back, crawling with snakes, spiders, rats and creepy things that are sure to go bump in the night.

The , aimed at the 12+ crowd, features a haunted schoolhouse, fright maze, Thriller dance performance, screening of The Wolfman and chance to meet the Chaney family, a family dynasty in horror cinema.

Organizers expect about 1,000 visitors to stop by the Halloween extravaganza, which takes place from 5:30 to 10 p.m Friday at , 25251 Serrano Rd, thanks to a partnership between the city and Orange County Parks.

Tickets are $5 at the door and cover all the night's activities, which are tailored for teens able to survive a good scare. (The younger crowd is invited to Saturday's Autumn Harvest Festival.)

Organizer Ron Rivera said he tries to make the event even scarier with each passing year—and incorporate some history in a nod to the event's setting in a historical park.

The movie screening is a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the movie, which featured the grandfather of the Haunt's featured guest, Ron Chaney. Chaney, who himself recently starred in the "House of the Wolfman," will hold a question-and-answer session regarding his family’s achievements in cinema. His great-grandfather Lon Chaney headlined classic films including “The Phantom of the Opera” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

The Haunt has its own Facebook page at www.facebook.com/LFhaunt where event staff post pictures of the park's transformation from tranquil nook to spooky scare zone.

Friday's event can be likened to the Knott's Berry Farm Haunt, while Saturday's is more like Disneyland.

On Saturday, the park will transform into a kid-friendly adventure area for the Autumn Harvest Festival, featuring a Harry Potter-themed schoolhouse, a pirate maze, storytelling and a costume parade on stage, among other activities.

For the first time, the festival will have a live-action pirates adventure show. An annual favorite, the glowstick party is also part of the night's activities, as will be the "Princess Party."

Costumes and candy collectors are encouraged so children can take advantage of trick-or-treat stations at the park. Cost is $4 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Saturday's Halloween celebration is from 4 to 9 p.m.
