Musick Madness - Part 3 ("Who'll Stop The Rain")

What do the candidates for City Council say about Musick?

As we discussed in Part 1 of this series, the County and the Sheriff are intent on turning Lake Forest into a maximum security prison compound with dangerous illegal alien felons, maximum security prisoners, and who knows what else.

In Part 2 we illustrated that escapes from Musick are common and escapes from maximum security prisons are not rare, so the increase in the number of prisoners and in the severity of their crimes poses a real threat to our wellbeing. Our City Council has betrayed our trust and given in to the wishes of the Sheriff and the Supervisors, despite the fact that our neighbor city, Irvine, who is in much less danger than we are, has objected and sued the County to stop this program.

As noted earlier, County Supervisor Pat Bates has been generous with her endorsements of Councilman Herzog in 2010 and his two hand-picked sycophants, Anderson and Zechmeister, in 2012. We asked “Is there a new quid pro quo?” and “Is this why our City Council remains silent on an issue as important as this one?”

So at the suggestion of one of our readers I decided to look at City Council candidate statements, literature and websites for a clue as to everyone’s positions on Musick Jail. Put aside the traffic problems, the dog parks, the medical marijuana dispensaries, and every other issue we’ve discussed in this campaign. Our very lives and property are at stake if the Supervisors and the Sheriff succeed in turning Musick Jail into a maximum security compound.

Let’s look at the facts -

Terry Anderson has already surrendered. His campaign literature says he will be “working with our Sheriff’s department on properly designed and administered facilities...” IOW he won’t fight to keep the maximum security prison out of Lake Forest. He’ll roll over just like his mentor Herzog did.

Kathy Zechmeister (Herzog’s other endorsed candidate) doesn’t even mention Musick in her campaign literature or on her website.

If you go to Adam Nick’s website and click on “Nick’s Vision” The page is blank with a note that says “Please visit soon”.

(While Nick hasn't dealt with this issue in his literature, candidate statement, or website, he has addressed it in comments on The Patch and in conversations with me, and he joins me in opposing Musick Jail)

In his campaign statement and in his literature Dwight Robinson says nothing about Musick Jail. His website is full of endorsements and photos. There isn’t even a link to anything resembling “issues”.

Ken Carrell has no website. His candidate statement makes no mention of Musick Jail. He has a Facebook page (9 people like it) but it makes no mention of Musick Jail.

Marcia Rudolph doesn’t have a website. Her campaign statement says “Work with the Sheriff on Musick Jail”. IOW she will continue to betray our wellbeing to stay in the good graces of the Sheriff and the Supervisors (Given what the Republican Party of Orange County recently said about her in an expensive “hit piece”, she probably needs all the friends she can find).

You can judge for yourself who is going to fight for you and protect Lake Forest from an onslaught of thousands of dangerous felons living a few hundred yards from our homes.

But make no mistake. Electing me is not going to stop the expansion of Musick Jail. There are 4 other people who sit on the City Council, and unless they are as committed as I am to stopping this travesty, my lone voice will not win the day. You need to write to the City Council and make your voice heard. Let them know you are opposed to having a maximum security prison in our backyard and ask them to join with the City of Irvine in their lawsuit against the County.
