It Pays to Patch- Margot Ferron

If you know me, you know I love my Red, Honda CRV and you also know I love PATCH.    Patch ran a story, free gas on Friday if you drive a Honda.

Lucky me, if I can get there between 9:30- 10:30 am.  I wanted to go just to see the Helpful, Honda, blue guys from the SoCal commercials.   My tank was half full, darn.

Driving down La Paz the road was clear, I made a legal U-turn at the light and I only had one car in front of me.   I pulled to the pump and the Honda, Blue guy did the rest.   We had to wait at the pump for quite some time, it seemed because they were pumping so much gas they had to re-charge after each.   I just got out of the car and talked to people.  Honda owners are friendly because they are so happy with their cars.

The only thing I hate about my 1997 is the tire on the back.    You can never judge how far to back up, but that tire saved my life.   I got rear-ended and not a scratch on the car and minimal injury to me.  It could have been worse.

My Honda was a Christmas and my 40th birthday present.   It is the first and only new car I have ever owned.    I was brought up to pay cash for everything, so hence one new car.   This was the first year the CRV’s were out and I did my research.    I had to have a red, car.   My boyfriend and I drove everywhere- San Diego, Riverside….no red car.   Finally, we purchased it in Monrovia.   Remember this was 1997, pre-google.

“Who takes this much time to buy a car, just get a white one!”   The red is so easy to spot in a parking lot.  You will never lose it.  Perfect car- the rear hatch opens in two parts and the car has a built in picnic table.   Honda is no longer making this shade of Red.  We have been talking for the last two years to get a new Honda, but I just can’t let it go, I am attached to my car.   I haven’t done anything to it, just regular maintenance.

My car only took $29.71 in gas, but for Jade Gates in the Honda, Odyssey behind me it was an $84.29, free Friday Gas Day.  “I follow Honda on Twitter," she said.  "This is the second time I have gotten a fill-up and I have even had a free car wash.”
