Don't Let CR&R Trash Our City!

The City Council steamrolled us again a few weeks ago by voting for an 8 year contract with CR&R that is going to hike our rates without letting us even discuss it. Both the residents and the small business here in Lake Forest are getting SCREWED once again by the city council.

Well I'm not done being angry.  We will have another bite at the apple on April 29th at 6:00 pm regarding the impending rate increases for resident and commercial solid waste collection by CR&R.

Lake Forest residents!!! Submit your concerns and complaints to city council before the April 29th meeting. [(949) 461-3420] Tell them you're against the rate increase, disruption of service, lack of transparency by the city!!!

See you at the April 29th meeting!

COLF told me WM did not respond to request for quotation. Stating WM ignored. Therfore, CR&R was awarded the 7 year contract. Does anyone know if WM did bid on this 7 year contract??

Hi Andy. I believe it is an 8 year contract, not 7. WM did apply. They were 1 of only 2 that applied.

Thanks Jim. However, I have a VM from COLF stating WM did not submit a proposal, and CR&R was awarded the contract.

For a community of many homeowner associations requiring massive paperwork just to paint your own home and pick an approved color, what idiot forgot to ask what colors these massive containers will be? Bright light blue with mammoth top heavy designs? These ugly plastic containers will require larger storage areas. If Waste Management got the obvious right, someone really needs to re-evaluate this questionable decision as to why a long term trusted utility within our city was denied continued support.

Hi Bob. I can't stress strongly enough the fact that WM had higher levels of satisfaction from residents in the City's biennial survey than any other City function, exceeding any one of our highly paid Department heads in their areas. They also have the highest reputation in the industry and the criterion against which every other trash company is measured, especially in recycling and green management where they are world leaders. They also had a lower bid that CR&R, although due to how poorly the RFP was written, it was impossible to give clear responses to every item. This Council makes poor decisions all the time, but usually they don't have such a major impact.
