Portola Hills Meeting Date Should Be Changed

Holding a meeting the night of the final presidential debate will reduce attendance, writes David Herzberg.

David Herzberg sent Lake Forest Patch the following letter to the editor:

I truly believe that October 22nd is an awful night to hold the Portola Hills Traffic Workshop II meeting.

This is the same night as the final Presidential Debate—our country is so polarized with this election that I believe a vast majority of the people who might attend the Traffic Workshop will stay home instead to watch the debate.

After all the work the City has been trying do to reach out to our community, the selection of the 22nd will backfire on City Hall and just create more mistrust.

I think the selection of this night is also a great disservice to all the work that Joe Foust (the independent traffic consultant hired by the City of Lake Forest) has been doing and shows a lack of regard for the residents of Portola Hills.

It reflects poorly on the planning abilities and integrity of City Staff.
