Blotter: Stabbing Victim's Journey to Hospital Was A Real Trip

Also, Rockfield and El Toro are popular accident locations. Those and other calls to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

You've seen it in the movies dozens of times. A person knocks on the door claiming someone was trying to kill him.

A variation of that took place late Tuesday night in Lake Forest, according to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, which indicated a person called 9-1-1 to report a stranger had knocked on his door claiming that very thing—someone was trying to kill him.

The claim had some merit. The man was bleeding and, eventually, fell into unconsciousness on the porch.

Deputies arrived and discovered a puncture wound to the man's stomach. He was transported to Mission Hospital.

According to Lt. Tim Rainwater of the OCSD, the wound was less nefarious.

The victim had taken drugs and was hallucinating, and had stabbed himself with a shard of glass, which was later recovered.

The call was made Tuesday, 11:40 p.m., from the 24600 block of Belgreen Place.

Cops were already on the scene

The driver of a Mini Cooper stopped at Lake Forest and Rockfield to allow an emergency vehicle—with lights and sirens ablaze—pass through the intersection. However, the Chevrolet truck behind the Mini was unable to stop and rear-ended the tiny car.

The call was made Tuesday, 6 p.m., from Lake Forest and Rockfield.

It's the domino effect

About 80 minutes before the above crash at Lake Forest and Rockfield, there was a four-car incident. It took place in the No. 2 left turn lane on northbound Rockfield. A Ford Edge was stopped at the light, a Toyota Camry behind it, a Honda behind it, and a Dodge behind it.

The foot of the driver of the Dodge Durango came off the brake and depressed the gas. The Durango hit the Honda, which hit the Toyota which hit the Ford.

The call was made Tuesday, 4:40 p.m.
