BREAKING: 2-Hour Standoff Over; 2 Arrests at Lake Forest Home

Soon after a SWAT team showed up, a Lake Forest man wanted on a felony arrest warrant surrendered to police.

A man who refused to come out of his house when deputies tried to serve him with a felony arrest warrant Thursday morning finally surrendered after a two-hour standoff.

Huey Pierce Gordon, 34, was taken away from the house in handcuffs shortly before 1 p.m., as was an unidentified woman who deputies said also had a warrant.

The identify of the woman was not immediately known, police said.

At about 10:30 a.m. today, deputies trying to serve the warrant on Gordon called in reinforcements when he barricaded himself in his house and refused to exit.

A large pit bull in the backyard worried deputies, who were unsure whether there were also weapons in the house, said Orange County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Angel Andrade of Lake Forest Police Services.

By noon, 15 police vehicles were on the scene, including backup from Mission Viejo and Aliso Viejo.

Deputies tried to reach Gordon by phone and over a loudspeaker from directly outside the house until about noon, when the decision was made to use SWAT and negotiating teams.

However, before they were deployed, a deputy reached a suddenly cooperative Gordon on the phone.

Saying he had not heard the deputies' calls because he had been sleeping, he opened the house to police.

A woman who deputies had not known was in the house with him was also taken away in a police car.

The situation, which unfolded mere blocks from El Toro High School, where school was in session, caused the campus to go into lockdown, according to students.

La Madera Elementary School also went into lockdown for a short amount of time, according to an email sent to parents.
