Caution Your Daughters About 'Free Electronic Device'

An informant is approached by a man offering free goods; she worries about him approaching other young girls.

By Martin Henderson

The gift-giving season is fast approaching, but when someone offers something for free, cast a wary eye—and don't get too close to the car.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, an informant called on Lake Forest police services Tuesday morning after an unusual run-in with a male who appeared to be in his 20s.

The informant said the man asked her to check out a free electronic device. She left the scene, but called for fear the man was using the pitch for free electronics to approach other young girls.

According to the informant, the man was driving a black four-door sedan with CarMax paper license plates.

The incident took place at the Chevron station at the corner of Lake Forest and Rockfield about 8:35 a.m.

This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report and its actual facts may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
