A male driver was arrested tonight after a 40-minute chase from East Los Angeles to Malibu.

The driver of a white BMW 750i came to the attention of officers on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway near South Indiana Street around 8:35 p.m. for speeding and weaving, California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Rubio said.

The chase proceeded westbound on Santa Monica (10) Freeway and then northbound on Pacific Coast Highway. Speeds ranged from 25-80 mph, Rubio said.

A CHP officer performed a PIT maneuver on Pacific Coast Highway, just south of Lunita Road, around 9:15 p.m., prompting the driver to throw the car's keys out the driver's side window.

The suspect was taken into custody, along with two passengers in the vehicle, Rubio said.

The three suspects are foreign exchange students at UC Irvine, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Elizabeth Van Valkenburgh told a videographer at the scene.

It is not surprising they are foreign students from UCI.

Like everyone else, I too like to take leisurely drives along the coast. I've seen dolphins, birds, and many beautiful women while doing this. The police shouldn't have stopped him from doing something every Californian likes to do. We shouldn't visitors from participating in such a relaxing activity. This borders on racism. smh.

I love the variables in this one: Student at UCI? check Foreign exchange from China? check BMW 750i? check 80 mph? check. Believing you can outrun helicopters and 10 crown victorias, all with video evidence? check. The bail will be high but easily paid by mommy and daddy. Enjoy your trek through the US justice system buddy.

Not all Chinese students act like this. Shame of them.
