El Toro Road Collision Hospitalizes Moped Rider

A 20-year-old male sustains serious injuries in a Thursday evening crash in Lake Forest.

A moped rider is in the hospital after a Thursday evening collision with an SUV on El Toro Road, authorities say.

At 7:15 p.m. Thursday, a 20-year-old man on a moped was traveling east on El Toro Road toward Second Street. 

A Toyota 4-Runner turning west onto El Toro Road from Second Street crashed into the moped, seriously injuring the rider.

He was taken to Mission Hospital with multiple facial fractures, a broken right wrist, broken left hand, fractured pelvis, lacerated spleen and a concussion, authorities say. 

The name and city of residence of the man on the moped were not immediately available Friday morning.

The driver of the Toyota did not sustain any injuries.
