For 99 Cents, You Can Buy A Lot of Attention

There was plenty of commotion Thursday night at the 99 Cent Store in Foothill Ranch.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, someone entered the store and, with a gun, yelled for everyone to "Get down on the ground."

Another informant confirmed that a man had told everyone in the business to "hit the floor," but another witness said a clerk seemed unconcerned and apparently knew the rabble-rousers.

Yet another another witness said there were 2-3 subjects responsible for the commotion and they got everyone inside the store to get on the ground before leaving.

The incident had the sheriff's department scrambling as its helicopter was dispatched to the scene to search for what was initially thought to be robbers.

The initial call was made at 8:26 p.m.

This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
