Good Samaritan Retrieves Stolen Purse, Caller Says—and Other Cop Calls

A selection of calls from Lake Forest to the county Sheriff's Department from Aug. 16-19.

The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. The true nature of an incident often differs from what is initially reported. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided.

A Good Samaritan helped a woman retrieve her purse after it was snatched from her, a caller told police Tuesday afternoon.

According to the caller, the woman chased the two men who grabbed her purse on the 22900 block of Ridge Route Drive across a parking lot.

A third man stepped in to assist. He retrieved the purse and returned to her, the caller told a police dispatcher at about 5:30 p.m.

Petty theft report. 11:41 a.m. Friday. 23800 block of El Toro Road.

Pedestrian check. 9:11 a.m. Friday. 25500 block of Mont Pointe. A 20-year-old man was arrested during a pedestrian check and taken into custody at Orange County Jail on $1,500 bail.

Traffic stop. 11:40 p.m. Thursday. El Toro Road and Raymond Way. A 40-year-old man was arrested during a traffic stop and taken into custody at Orange County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Traffic stop. 8:03 p.m. Thursday. Vista Way and Respit Drive. A 23-year-old man was arrested during a traffic stop and taken into custody at Orange County Jail, where he was released under his own recognizance.

Assist outside agency. 9:12 a.m. Thursday. 24500 block of Via Tonada. A 21-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody at Central Men’s Jail. He was released when he posted bail.

Disturbance—family dispute. 2:44 a.m. Thursday. 22200 block of Cripple Creek. Deputies responding to a disturbance call arrested a 49-year-old man and took him into custody at Central Men’s Jail on $50,000 bail.

Suspicious person/circumstances. 6:06 p.m. Wednesday. El Toro Road and Marguerite Parkway. Deputies responding to a report of a suspicious person arrested an 18-year-old man and took him into custody at Central Men’s Jail. He was released when the District Attorney refused to prosecute.

Traffic stop. 4:40 p.m. Wednesday. Toledo Way and El Toro Road. A 40-year-old woman was arrested during a traffic stop and taken into custody at Orange County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Suspicious person/circumstances. 4:21 a.m. Wednesday. 26500 block of Summer Creek.

Disturbance. 11:16 p.m. Tuesday. 25700 block of Le Parc. Deputies responding to a disturbance call arrested a 34-year-old man and took him into custody at Central Men’s Jail with no bail set.

Vandalism in progress. 9:26 p.m. Tuesday. 26000 block of Hillsford Place. A caller said two men were breaking off sprinkler heads in a nearby park, causing water to shoot up in the air.

Reckless driving. 6:31 p.m. Tuesday. 25100 block of Vis Fusco. A resident asked deputies to check for an 11-year-old boy who was riding a motorcycle up and down the street because he might crash or get hit by a vehicle.

Disturbance. 4:08 p.m. Tuesday. 23200 block of Front Street. A caller in the process of retrieving his impounded vehicle said the tow company would not take his rolls of coins, which was all he had to pay with.
