A 21-year-old Irvine man was indicted Monday by an Orange County grand jury on charges of murdering his father by shooting him in his Irvine home.
Prosecutors contend Steven Joseph Bruno killed Ernest Bruno on Aug. 30 in the elder Bruno's home in Irvine during a dispute over money.
Family members called the Irvine Police Department Aug. 31 after discovering a large pool of blood inside Ernest Bruno's home.
The body of the 60-year-old man was discovered inside a locked bedroom in the residence, according to Irvine police.
Irvine police shared with other law enforcement a description of the younger Bruno and the vehicle in which he was believed to have fled to Colorado. About four hours later, Bruno was arrested by the Logan County Sheriff's Department in Colorado.
Bruno was returned to Orange County this past weekend and is being held without bail pending his Tuesday arraignment, according to the Orange County District Attorney.
He was indicted Monday on one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for discharging a personal firearm causing death, according to the OCDA.
