If It Was A Ruse, Victim Was Not All Bark and No Bite

A couple of men get more than they bargain for when trying to assume control of a home they say should be theirs.

A suspicious encounter Monday evening turned violent when a homeowner's german shepherds attacked two men.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, a woman called on police services to report two men had come to her residence. Their story was that they had given a rental company money to take over the residence.

The woman, a HUD officer, reported she had owned the residence for many years. She speculated that a weekend garage sale might have led to someone getting her information.

About 85 minutes later, the woman called back and asked when deputies might arrive. She had some additional news: Her three german shepherds attacked the two men, and they left, possibly to seek medical treatment.

The woman said the dogs could attack again if anyone approached, and advised deputies to use caution—which they did. They called the informant upon arrival at the residence for safety reasons.

The call was made Monday, 7:51 p.m., and dispatched at 9:34 p.m., to the 21800 block of Ute Way.

This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
