Sleeping Man Killed When Car Crashes Into MV Home

A man sleeping in the front bedroom of a Mission Viejo home was killed early Sunday morning when a motorist lost control of his car, jumped a curb and the sedan smashed into the structure, a sheriff's lieutenant said.

The deceased was identified by friends as Ken Jackson, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's Department. The Orange County Register indicated Kenny "Jaws" Jackson, 60, was a longtime motorcycle technician who recently moved from San Clemente to Mission Viejo. 

The Mission Viejo motorist, Kourosh Keshmiri, 27, was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving and could face additional charges following an investigation into the incident, Hallock said.

According to Hallock, the suspect has one prior DUI conviction from August 2010 and another pending DUI case from June; he was driving on a suspended license. 

“It actually penetrated the house,” OCSD Lt. Jerry Carlson said of Keshmiri's car. Video from the scene showed the late-model, maroon Cadillac had launched into the house before impact, its rear tires in the air.

Hallock said there had been two men inside the Cadillac. Both incurred minor injuries and required no medical attention. Keshmiri's mugshot seemed to indicated he suffered a nose injury.

The man who had been sleeping in a front bedroom near the road died at scene.

Deputies were dispatched to the home in the 26000 block of Pacato Drive at 3:28 a.m., a department press release says. Another male inside the home escaped injury, Carlson said.

Hallock said a natural gas line was severed during the crash, and crews were in the process of repairing the line before a tow truck could extract the car from the home.
