Middle-Aged Woman Tries to Race From Cops on the 241

Chase takes place on the 241 toll road, but ends when she winds up in a freeway ditch next to the 91.

A 54-year-old woman was in custody early Thursday after a high-speed chase on two Orange County freeways, police said.

The woman, who was driving a gray Toyota pickup, was pursued "at a high rate of speed" on the northbound Foothill Toll Road (241) and eastbound Riverside (91) freeways before running her vehicle into a ditch, Orange County Sheriff's Department Lt. Andy Ferguson said.

The pursuit, which began Wednesday, about 11:15 p.m., on El Toro Road in Lake Forest. Wednesday, lasted about 17 minutes, Ferguson said. No injuries were reported, he said.

The pursuit ended when the woman ran her pickup off the freeway and into a ditch several miles west of Corona and the Green River Road exit, Ferguson said. The woman is in custody, with charges pending, he said.
