A man thrown off his motorcycle when the bike slammed into a minivan in Elk Grove died at the scene, authorities said Sunday.
The crash was reported at 12:49 p.m., on Bradshaw Road, at the intersection with Elk Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove police Sgt. Audrey Haug said.
Preliminary investigation indicated that for some reason, the man -- 63 years old from Sacramento - did not stop at the stop sign and his Victory broadsided the van.
The woman driving the van -- she was carrying five passengers in the vehicle -- suffered injuries and was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Hospital, where a condition report was not immediately available.
Correction: A previous version of this story misidentified the age of the crash victim and the type of intersection where the accident happened. Patch regrets the error.
