New Lake Forest Police Chief Is Former Lake Forest Sergeant

Lt. Patrick Higa will oversee police operations in town.

Lt. Patrick Higa is returning to Lake Forest Police Services not long after leaving it—but this time, he'll be in charge.

Higa will be introduced as the new chief of police for Lake Forest at Tuesday night's council meeting. He succeeds Lt. Douglas Doyle,

Higa served as administrative sergeant in Lake Forest up until earlier this year, when he was promoted to lieutenant and transferred to serve at the Theo Lacy jail. A city staff report says he joined the Sheriff's Department in 1986 and is a Mission Viejo resident. He was selected out of a process in which City Manager Robert Dunek interviewed a number of candidates for the position of Lake Forest Police Services chief.
