Roving DUI Patrol in Lake Forest and Surrounding Towns Tonight

Extra cops will be on the road, looking for drunken drivers.

Roving patrols of cops are looking for drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs on the streets of Lake Forest, Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita today, the Orange County's Sheriff's Department has announced.

The teams will target areas with high rates of drunken-driving-related arrests and collisions.

The roving patrols are different than the Sheriff's Department's periodic, static DUI checkpoints, such as the one on El Toro Road on Feb. 11. That checkpoint six DUI arrests and five arrests for driving without a license.
