Serial Rapist Gets 112 Years in Prison

Sekayi Rudo White of Lake Forest is sentenced for raping five women and sexually assaulting a sixth. Three victims were too frightened to come forward before media coverage of his other crimes.

A Lake Forest man was sentenced Friday to 112 years in prison for raping five women and sexually assaulting a sixth over a period of five years.

A jury found Sekayi Rudo White, 34, guilty of serially raping women in Orange County and attempting to cover up his crimes by threatening or harassing the women if they told police.

White was first arrested in October 2006, accused of rape and attempted rape.

Two months earlier, on Aug. 13, he reportedly met a 22-year-old woman at a Huntington Beach bar, then drove her to his Lake Forest home and raped her. He then dropped her off at a convenience store, where she was picked up by a friend.

White was also accused of attempting to rape a 44-year-old woman he met at a bar in the Irvine Spectrum on Dec. 23, 2005. Police said he drove her to her Newport Beach apartment, where he asked to use the bathroom and exited naked. He attacked her, pinning her down and grabbing her while attempting to remove her pants. After she screamed, he ran off after threatening to kill her if she told anyone about the attack.

After his 2006 arrest, White posted $250,000 bail and continued his spree, raping a 28-year-old woman he met at a Lake Forest bar where she was celebrating her birthday. According to police, he showed up at the home of the woman—whom he had met a few months earlier—and raped her while she was intoxicated. As he he did so, she punched him in the face and scrambled away to call 911. White stopped her from placing the call, so she fled her home and called from a neighbor’s home.

White was again arrested and charged with that rape April 7, 2007.

Three of the women he raped were too scared to tell police about the assaults until they saw media coverage of his arrest for other assaults, according to the Orange County district attorney.

One woman who came forward was 22 when she met White in driving school, sometime between August and September 2002.

White picked her up for a date, took her to a Santa Ana hotel and raped her while she was unconscious. She does not recall drinking alcohol or entering the hotel but awakened during the rape and pleaded for White to stop, according to the OCDA. He refused and later harassed her by showing up at her work and home.

Another woman initially too frightened to contact police was 32 when she began dating White in 2006. In February 2007, White began sending her threatening messages and spying on her through the blinds in her home. On Feb. 21, he broke into her home while she was alone and raped her as he held a large hunting knife to her throat.

About a month before that, White raped the woman's housemate, threatening to kill her if she told police about the attack. According to the D.A., she routinely locked her bedroom door to protect herself from White, whose aggressive behavior alarmed her.
