Sheriff's Blotter: Prowler Spotted in Pine Flat Circle

Many people shake off someone trying to get into the house if they think it's just family.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, a Lake Forest informant thought just that.

Except it wasn't her family.

She reported that someone tried to get into her house about 10:45 p.m. on Friday, April 5.

The woman was home alone and thought it was family members who were trying to access the dining room from the backyard. She went to the backyard and saw someone crouching, who then took off.

The woman returned to the inside of the house and called 9-1-1.

The call came at 11:06 p.m., from the 24900 block of Pine Flat Circle.

“Cool Cats” looking for some shades

An informant reported two mountain lions came out of the brush from Whiting Ranch and were behind Oakley Corporate Headquarters near Icon. The beasts then ran back into the brush. Deputies were unable to locate the mountain lions.

The call was made Saturday, April 6, 2:27 p.m., from Portola and Glenn Ranch.

The following is a summary report of calls from Lake Forest to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from April 6.

Disturbance, Saturday, 11:23 p.m., 20700 block of El Toro Road. An informant called 9-1-1 when it appeared a verbal altercation between her son and her daughter’s boyfriend was going to become physical. The boyfriend was said to be drunk and possibly on drugs, throwing things and refusing to leave the residence.

Missing adult, Saturday, 2:03 p.m., 19000 block of Canyon Terrace Drive. A woman reported her father missing. He suffers from being bi-polar and requires medication—and had been kicked off a plane in Chicago for being in a manic state. He decided then to rent a car and drive to Las Vegas; the woman hadn’t heard from her father since. 

Drunk driving, Saturday, 12:46 p.m., at Bake and Toledo. An informant requested a police check on a friend who had gone to the grocery store for more beer. According to the informant, the subject had run into a fire hydrant on Wednesday.

Disturbance—music or party, Saturday, 3:43 a.m., 21400 block of Firwood. Deputies were contacted a second time about a loud party in which subjects were blowing loud whistles despite the late hour.

Disturbance, Saturday, 2:29 a.m., 20600 block of Lake Forest Drive.  A security guard notified sheriff’s deputies that 16 or 17 subjects were in a fight in a parking lot.

Unknown trouble, Saturday, 2:21 a.m., 21000 block of Osterman. An informant reported 7 suspects were at his door trying to break it down. The informant also said the suspects had just beaten up his roommate. The operator heard someone banging at the door. The suspects included five males and were gone by the time deputies arrived. The roommate refused medical aid.

Disturbance, Saturday, 1:58 a.m., 24400 block of Penfield. An informant reported 6-7 males and females were running around in the street in their underwear. Deputies determined they were not in their underwear and were advised about the noise.

Disturbance, Saturday, 12:16 a.m., 21400 block of Lake Forest Drive. A man called 9-1-1 while being chased by a group of juveniles; they caught up with the man while he was still on the phone with the operator. Near Pittsford and Midcrest, the man spotted a sheriff cruiser and flagged down the deputy, who detained five juveniles. They were released to their parents. The informant decided not to press charges.

Assist outside agency, Saturday, 12:10 a.m., 24200 block of Ponchartrain. Deputies were called to a residence in which a 49-year-old man was deceased. He was deceased, and found with 2 grams of cocaine on a nearby table; he had a history of heart trouble and drug abuse.

Suspicious persons/circumstances, Friday, 9:14 p.m., 25300 block of Gemini. A woman reported three juveniles who have been throwing items at her residence for the last three days, then run away.
