Son Wants to Drive, Beats Door When He Can't—and Other Cop Calls

The following is a selection of calls from Lake Forest to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from Jan. 14 to Jan. 18.

A caller said her 19-year-old son was inside the house, beating on a door with a baseball bat. The caller said that he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol but that he was upset she didn’t allow him to drive a car.

The call came in around 11:30 a.m. Sunday from the area of Parrell Avenue.

Disturbance 2:44 p.m., Tuesday, 21600 block of Canada Road. The caller received information that a tenant kicked walls and screamed.

Illegal peddling 2:16 p.m., Tuesday, Cherrywood/Sierra Ridge. The caller reported two people going door to door selling floor cleaner. The caller was concerned because of recent car break-ins.

Disturbance 2:10 p.m., Tuesday, 26600 block of Portola Parkway. The caller reported a customer arguing with other customers.

Welfare check 1:41 p.m., Tuesday, 25300 block of Sequoiawood Way. The caller asked for a welfare check on a woman who called the caller and said she would commit suicide by driving and crashing or taking pills. The caller said she suffers from major depression and lives alone with two cats.

Disturbance 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, Toledo Lane/Ticonderoga Lane. The caller in a postal truck said a man called the caller bad names because of a forwarding issue.

Suspicious person/circumstances 11:27 a.m., Tuesday, 23600 block of El Toro Road. The caller reported two women in front of the store asking people for money. The caller said it’s an ongoing problem.

Suspicious person in a vehicle 8:34 a.m., Tuesday, El Toro Road/Rockfield Boulevard. The caller reported someone in a car watching people as they got out of cars.

Assist outside agency 7:37 a.m., Tuesday, 5 freeway/El Toro Road. The caller reported a transient sitting at the freeway onramp panhandling and interfering with drivers.

Suspicious person/circumstances 1:24 a.m., Tuesday, 24000 block of Muirlands Boulevard. The caller reported men possibly checking cars in the neighborhood.

Burglary in progress 11:51 p.m., Monday, 24100 block of Eaglemont Avenue. The caller said that when she came home she found a man, woman and two children in her home. The caller said she didn’t know them. The caller sounded suspicious or drunk.

Indecent exposure 11:06 p.m., Monday, Glenn Ranch Road/Portola Parkway. The caller reported a naked man walking against traffic on Portola Parkway.

Information report 8:50 p.m., Monday, El Toro Road/Rockfield Boulevard. The caller said his 9-year-old cousin said he had cigarette burns on his left hand caused by his brother.

Disturbance 8:40 p.m., Monday, 24800 block of Calle El Toro Grande. The caller’s 13-year-old daughter argued with the mother.

Traffic stop 8:35 p.m., Monday, Ridge Route Drive/Overlake Drive. Police arrested a 21-year-old plumber.

Assault 7:02 p.m., Monday, 20700 block of El Toro Road. The caller said a woman was down on the ground in the parking lot.

Traffic stop 7:03 p.m., Monday, El Toro Road/Muirlands Boulevard. Police arrested a 27-year-old construction worker.

Hit-and-run felony 6:21 p.m., Monday, El Toro Road/Jeronimo Road. The caller saw a man in an Acura hit a motorcycle, get out of the car and kick the bike over and drive away.

Keep the peace 5:43 p.m., Monday, 22600 block of Shady Grove Circle. The caller said a landlord put the caller’s things outside.

Illegal peddling 5:39 p.m., Monday, 24900 block of Muirlands. The caller reported someone peddling carpet cleaner and refusing to leave.

Traffic stop 4:58 p.m., Monday, 25300 block of Second Street. Police arrested a 34-year-old laborer.

Drunk in public 4:11 p.m., Monday, 23400 block of El Toro Road. The caller reported a drunken man sleeping inside Carl’s Jr. The man was told not to come back into the store.

Disturbance 4:05 p.m., Monday, Portola Parkway/Lake Forest Drive. The caller reported being followed and said the person in the other car told the caller’s 5-year-old he was going to rape her and waved something like a gun.

Grand-theft report 12:58 p.m., Monday, 23100 block of Los Alisos Boulevard. The caller said her brother stole jewelry from her.

Terrorist-threat report 12:40 p.m., Monday, 26700 block of Portola Parkway. The caller reported an ongoing problem with an elderly customer who gets into arguments with employees and then threatens them.

Warrant arrest 8:55 a.m., Monday, 23200 block of Orange Avenue. Police arrested and released a 49-year-old house cleaner.

Pedestrian check 3:47 a.m., Monday, 23600 block of El Toro Road. Police cited and released a 30-year-old dock worker.

Missing juvenile 3:22 a.m., Monday, 24600 block of Via Raza. The caller’s 17-year-old daughter called her older sister from a blocked number, sounded drunk and said she was in a car accident. The line disconnected,  and the older sister wasn’t able to call back.

Suspicious person/circumstances 3:07 a.m., Monday, Via Raza/Via Brillante. The caller reported a Toyota Camry and a Ford Ranger delivering papers in the neighborhood. The caller thought it was a scheme and that they were casing the neighborhood.

Suspicious person/circumstances 2:52 a.m., Monday, Lake Forest Drive/Toledo Way. The caller reported a man walking around and shouting.

Shots heard 11:57 p.m., Sunday, 25300 block of Gemini Lane. The caller heard a shot.

Missing juvenile 11:33 p.m., Sunday, 21200 block of Acorn Way. The caller reported her 16-year-old daughter missing.

Suspicious person in a vehicle 10:44 p.m., Sunday, Calle Tres Lomas/Tulip Street. The caller reported people possibly having sex in a brown Acura.

Suspicious person/circumstances 10:04 p.m., Sunday, 25200 block of Ginger Road. The caller reported three people who looked into cars.

Assist outside agency 10:09 p.m., Sunday, 22300 block of El Toro Road. The caller said a customer gave a fake $20.

Stolen vehicle 9:57 p.m., Sunday, Towne Center Drive/Lake Forest Drive. The caller reported the theft of a Honda Civic.

Suspicious person/circumstances 8:59 p.m., Sunday, Jeronimo Road/Cherry Avenue. The caller reported many gang types in front of the Via Viejo complex.

Suspicious person/circumstances 8:53 p.m., Sunday, Shenandoar Drive/High Noon Circle. The caller heard kids in the backyard of a foreclosed home with “no trespassing” signs.

Drunk driving 8:08 p.m., Sunday, Lake Forest Drive/Toledo Way. The caller reported a Corolla swerving all over.

Petty theft 6:40 p.m., Sunday, 23600 block of El Toro Road. Police arrested and released a 53-year-old nurse.

Suspicious person/circumstances 6:05 p.m., Sunday, Toledo Way/El Toro Road. The caller reported a Mercedes with smashed windows.

Disturbance 4:45 p.m., Sunday, 24300 block of Partridge Circle. The caller’s daughter argued with her boyfriend.

Disturbance 3:35 p.m., Sunday, 25000 block of Farthing Street. The caller heard people talking about tagging her wall. They then got into an argument with the caller’s husband and went over the wall.

Citizen assist 2:46 p.m., Sunday, Jeronimo Road/Cherry Avenue. The caller said a man waved pepper spray at the caller. The caller said the man pepper-sprayed the caller on two other occasions.

Terrorist-threat report 2:07 p.m., Sunday, 22000 block of Lakeland Avenue. The caller said her husband argued with her the night before and threatened to harm her and break windows with a hammer. The caller said he is bipolar and schizophrenic.

Suspicious person/circumstances 12:09 p.m., Sunday, Lake Forest Drive/Bake Parkway. The caller reported people riding road motorcycles in the wooded area.

Missing adult 3:28 a.m., Sunday, 25300 block of Mosswood Way. The caller said his drunken girlfriend left the house two hours ago and was going to get cigarettes but didn’t return.

Welfare check 3:19 a.m., Sunday, 22600 block of Fernwood Street. The caller from Illinois said she got a text from a man telling her goodbye and to tell his sister goodbye and that he loved her. The caller said he threatened suicide before.

Suspicious person/circumstances 2:41 a.m., Sunday, 23000 block of El Caballo Street. The caller said a strange man rang her doorbell.

Traffic stop 1:54 a.m., Sunday, El Toro Road/Rockfield Boulevard. Police cited and released a 36-year-old construction worker.

Disturbance 1:10 a.m., Sunday, 20000 block of Osterman Road. The caller at Sienna Terrace Apartments reported Irvine Water District doing some type of drilling. The caller didn’t think they had a permit from the city or a reason to be drilling at 1 a.m. on a Sunday.

Court order violation 10:34 p.m., Saturday, Muirlands Boulevard/Dylan Avenue. The caller said his ex-wife refused to return their child.

Citizen assist 10:17 p.m., Saturday, 25100 block of Calle Pradera. The caller’s house was egged.

Drunk in car 10:08 p.m., Saturday, Portola Parkway/Towne Center Drive. The caller reported a woman sitting in a Lexus in the parking lot. The caller said she stumbled all over.

Disturbance 9:16 p.m., Saturday, 19100 block of Red Bluff Drive. He caller reported three people arguing, cursing at each other, going back and forth between the inside and the front of the house and throwing clothes on the roof.

Disturbance 9:11 p.m., Saturday, Bake Parkway/Portola Parkway. The caller reported two kids fighting, with 10 other people standing around them.

Firework violation 7:13 p.m., Saturday, 26300 block of Paloma. The caller reported kids setting off firecrackers.

Vandalism in progress 6:25 p.m., Saturday, 22300 block of El Toro Road. The caller said his mom’s car was vandalized.

Welfare check 5:30 p.m., Saturday, 21600 block of Canada Road. The caller was concerned for her neighbor. The caller said she heard her through the wall crying and screaming over the phone, saying she wanted to die. The caller believed she just needed some compassion.

Suspicious person/circumstances 4:25 p.m., Saturday, 23800 block of Barrett Drive. The caller said a 17-year-old sat in the caller’s sprinklers and the caller was afraid to tell him to move.

Disturbance 4:20 p.m., Saturday, 25400 block of Second Street. The caller reported gang members fighting.

Disturbance 3:39 p.m., Saturday, 20700 block of El Toro Road. The caller said a neighbor who lives directly below her and is known to drink dug up the dirt because he thought an animal defecated in it.

Reckless driving 3:26 p.m., Saturday, El Toro Road/Normandale Drive. The caller said two cars were either involved in road rage or racing.

Citizen assist 2:49 p.m., Saturday, 19400 block of Rue de Valore. The caller said an evicted tenant moved out and left a car in the garage. The caller thought the car was possibly stolen.

Suspicious person/circumstances 1:12 p.m., Saturday, Lake Forest Drive/Dimension Drive. The caller reported a drunken woman carrying a shopping bag. The caller thought she had to be drunk because she dropped her shopping bag.

Suspicious person/circumstances 10:57 a.m., Saturday, 0 block of Montecilo. The caller evicted tenants and when he inspected the property,  he found 15 Cox DVRs.

Traffic stop 2:59 a.m., Saturday, Rockfield Boulevard/White Dove Drive. Police cited and released a 24-year-old student.

Burglary in progress 2:04 a.m., Saturday, 23000 block of Caballo Street. The caller said a man either drunk or on drugs kicked in the door and got inside. The caller said he had a wooden stick that he was swinging at people who got near him and used it to break windows in the house. The caller said they got the stick away from him.

Disturbance 1:45 a.m., Saturday, El Toro Road/Jeronimo Road. The caller reported three men fighting.

Battery 1:02 a.m., Saturday, 22700 block of Centre Drive. Two women who were assaulted wanted to file a report.

Unknown trouble 11:17 p.m., Friday, 29000 block of Canyon Ridge Drive. The caller reported a gunshot wound. The caller said he accidentally shot a worker doing work on his house. The worker was bleeding but was conscious and breathing.

Vandalism in progress 11:13 p.m., Friday, 23600 block of Rockfield Boulevard. The caller said an employee walked out of a restaurant and two men and one woman were spray-painting the wall.

Disturbance 8:01 p.m., Friday, 25800 block of Trabuco Road. The caller reported 15 kids smoking drugs and drinking at the pool.

Disturbance 7:53 p.m., Friday, El Toro Road/Jeronimo Road. The caller reported five or six boys and one girl, who all appeared high school age, fighting in front of the liquor store. The caller said they ran away and left behind a guy who was bleeding. The caller said eight guys beat him up, possibly with a metal pipe, and he was unconscious on the ground.

Disturbance 5:15 p.m., Friday, 0 block of Esternay Drive. The caller said his friend said he was going to lie to the police and say that the caller hit him.

Suspicious person/circumstances 4:43 p.m., Friday, 24900 block of Muirlands Boulevard. The caller at the clubhouse in the complex reported a worker who showed up to work partially exposed. The caller was concerned about the 8-year-old girl who was with the worker.

Disturbance 4:39 p.m., Friday, 23300 block of Dune Mear Road. The caller said six kids with bicycles harassed the after-school students.

Welfare check 2:51 p.m., Friday, 24500 block of Raymond Way. The caller reported a woman holding an infant and a cardboard sign begging for money in front of the post office.
