South County Revelers: 'No Shootings, No Stabbings'

People party, as usual, but the cops come away from the evening pleased nothing serious occurred.

New Year’s Eve often turns into party central, but South Orange County residents were on their best behavior this year—assuming best behavior means not resorting to violence.

Lt. Tim Rainwater of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said the department was pleasantly surprised with this year’s holiday.

“For New Year’s Eve, it was fairly quiet,” Rainwater said Wednesday, 4:45 a.m. “We had a bunch of calls, but for New Year’s Eve, it wasn’t too shocking, mostly party calls and fireworks calls.

“For us, were were kind of pleasantly surprised. No shootings, no stabbings, very few fights, even.”
