Update: Lake Forest Man Dies After Crash, Drunk Driving Suspected

Theodore Brewsaugh, 29, succumbs six days after an Irvine accident. Police suspect the driver responsible for the accident had been drinking.

A Lake Forest man died late Saturday night in a Santa Ana hospital following an Irvine car crash, according to the Orange County coroner.

Theodore Brewsaugh, 29, was riding with two dogs and a female driver from Mission Viejo when their Mazda hatchback crashed with a Toyota SUV at the Irvine Boulevard/Sand Canyon intersection on March 31 around 1:20 a.m., Irvine Police said. Brewsaugh, a native of Mission Viejo before moving to Lake Forest, was pronounced dead at 10:31 p.m. Saturday night.

All three people involved were injured and hospitalized. Brewsaugh experienced severe head injures, police said. One of the two dogs died in the crash.

Following his hospital stay, Police arrested the SUV driver, Brad Marsicano, 31, of Mission Viejo.

"Marsicano is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol," Irvine Police spokeswoman Julia Engen said.

Marsicano has not yet been charged with drunken driving, according to court records. Marsicano had several previous moving violations, according to court records, which show three speeding tickets and one case of driving over the lines of a divided highway.
