2,400-Home Development Under Consideration

On Thursday, the Planning Commission will look at plans for a new residential community.

Plans sketching out a proposed residential community in northwestern Lake Forest will come before the Planning Commission during its regularly scheduled Thursday night meeting.

The design concepts and vision for the proposed community, which would be developed on a 386-acre property owned by Shea Baker Ranch Associates, will be the topic of a presentation at the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in City Council chambers at Lake Forest City Hall, 25550 Commercentre Dr.

The property up for discussion is bounded by the 241 toll road to the north, Bake Parkway to the east, Commercentre Drive to the south and the city limit to the west.

Under the current proposal, it would be developed for both residential and mixed use and include the construction of up to 2,379 homes and a 7-acre park.

According to a staff report, the general plan land uses for the property were redesignated in July 2010 and now allow those types of development.  Environmental analysis of the proposed development is pending, according to city staffers.
