$37.3-Million Budget Coming Before Council

Lake Forest is looking at a 6-percent increase in General Fund spending in its 2012-13 budget proposal.

A $37.3-million operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year will come before the Lake Forest City Council on Tuesday evening for its consideration.

Of that, $33.8 million is proposed for General Fund spending in 2012-13—a 6-percent increase over its 2011-12 expenditures.

But increasing tax revenues mean the city predicts its General Fund revenues will see a 7-percent bump in the coming year, topping out at $34.5 million for a balanced budget.

Estimates of a modest increase in revenues are based on "current economic conditions and indicators and the soft (but, firming) housing market," according to a report city staff wrote to the council.

The council meets 7 p.m. Tuesday in , 25550 Commercentre Drive.
