Commission To Analyze 2,400-Home Proposal

The Lake Forest Planning Commission is holding a second workshop during its Thursday meeting to discuss the proposed Shea Baker housing development.

A proposal to build about 2,400 homes on a 372-acre plot in northwest Lake Forest is the main topic on the agenda for Thursday's meeting of the city's Planning Commission.

Planning Commissioners will for the second time this year hold a workshop to talk with the project applicants about their overall vision for the development.

The site, known as Shea Baker Ranch, is situated within the 241, Bake Parkway, Commercentre Drive and the western city limit.

According to the staff report, the purpose of the workshops are to "provide the applicant an opportunity to present the Planning Commission with context and framework with which to review the pending application materials."

Members of the Planning Commission took a site tour on Feb. 23 prior to the initial workshop.

At that meeting, the commission discussed the project's aspects with its proposers, noting issues with the proposed leveling of the landscape and the project's timing. That dialogue will continue at the Thursday meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in .

Public hearings regarding the development could take place as soon as April.
