Commission To Take Last Look at 2,400-Home Development

If approved, the Baker Ranch community would bring thousands of new homes into Lake Forest in two phases of construction.

A proposed housing development that could bring thousands of new homes to Lake Forest will get a final review by the city's Planning Commission at its Thursday evening meeting.

Baker Ranch, if eventually approved by the City Council, would tentatively consist of up to about 2,400 residences, a seven-acre community park and seven neighborhood parks.

The property slated for development is bounded generally on the north by the 241 toll road, Bake Parkway to the east, Commercentre Drive to the south and the city limit to the west.

The main access to the community would be from the unfinished Alton Parkway extension, which is being constructed to connect the road in Irvine to its counterpart in Foothill Ranch.

At a previous presentation to the commission, a representative of the developer said that homes could be built in as many as seven smaller communities and range in price from $300,000 to $700,000.

The size of the lots on the conceptual plans range from about 1,800 square feet to 3,000 square feet.

A public hearing on the plan is scheduled for the Planning Commission meeting. If the commission likes the plan, it will recommend that the council approve its tract map, environmental report and area plan.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall at 25550 Commercentre Drive in Lake Forest.
