Council Preview: Serrano Highlands Housing, COPS Funding

The Lake Forest City Council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. in City Hall.

Two public hearings are on the agenda for the Lake Forest City Council meeting on Tuesday evening.

Signing over portions of Peachwood Street, north of Palmwood Drive, is up for discussion as part of a larger plan to build a new housing development adjacent to the existing apartments and condominiums.

As part of the , as the proposed complex is called, the developer would add a narrow, private street at the northermost end of Peachwood.

If approved, a portion of Peachwood between Palmwood and Tamarisk would be tapered, transitioning the street between the wider Peachwood south of Palmwood Drive and narrower private streets for the Pinnacle project.

Another hearing on the agenda is for an item seeking approval to again use a $100,000 grant from the state's Citizens Options for Public Safety program to offset partially the cost of one sergeant position.

The money, which can only be spent on front-line municipal police services, will cover a portion of the the full cost of one sergeant position: $246,483.

Also on the agenda is an annual review of the city's investment plan, a list of the council's recent expenditures and a construction contract of approximately $4 million with Road Builders, Inc., for grading and drainage of the Lake Forest Sports Park. Those items are all on the council's consent calendar—a group of items generally voted on in one fell swoop with minimal discussion.
