Foster City Lagoon Lowered to Winter Level

The lagoon will be lowered 6 to 8 inches this week.

The Foster City Public Works Department has announced the water level in the Foster City Lagoon will be lowered by about 6 to 8 inches this week.

The City’s Lagoon Management Plan sets standard lagoon water levels for Winter and Summer periods, according to city officials.

The lagoon level is lowered in the Winter in order to prepare to accept additional storm water associated with frequent Winter storms.

In the Summer, levels are raised to accommodate recreational uses of the lagoon waterway. However, if a major storm is predicted, the lagoon level may be lowered in preparation for the storm at any time of year.

Anyone with questions about the lagoon levels or Lagoon Management Plan may contact Public Works Maintenance Superintendent Nick Leonoudakis at (650) 286-3551 or nleonoudakis@fostercity.org.

It is crazy how they have this down to a science. I just hope we have a good rain fall so it doesn't hinder us in the summer. ________________________________________ Find a Career College near you, www.americolleges.com
