Get Your Flu, Pneumonia Shots at Lake Forest City Hall

The four-hour clinic Thursday offers flu and pneumonia shots.

It may still be a comfortable, sunny 70-plus degrees in Lake Forest, but October is headed this way, and with it the nation's annual, dreaded flu season.

In preparation, the city and are holding a vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at , 25550 Commercentre Dr.

"Everyone 6 months of age and older should get a yearly flu vaccine," the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises.

And, it's important to get it before your family or friends start getting sick since the vaccine doesn't give instantaneous protection.

According to the CDC, it takes about two weeks after vaccination for your body to develop an immune response.

At the vaccination clinic in Lake Forest, Medicare recipients can receive free flu and pneumonia vaccinations. Proof of Medicare coverage is required at the time of vaccination.

Non-Medicare members can get a flu vaccination for $29.99 and a pneumonia vaccination for $71.

The clinic will be set up at the Lake Forest Senior Scene Clubhouse inside City Hall.
